Colo Colo Fans Banned From Copa Sudamericana Return Leg

October 24, 2006

copa-sudamericana-logo.jpgThe Copa Sudamericana second leg match between Chili’s Colo Colo and Argentina’s Gimnasia La Plata will be without groups of fans from Colo Colo.

Authorities have banned Colo Colo supporters from traveling together to Argentina for Thursday’s showdown.

The first leg, in Santiago Chili, was suspended in the 86th minute, with Colo Colo ahead 4 -1, due to Colo Colo supporters throwing chunks of cement onto the pitch.

One large chunk hit Gimnasia’s Nicolas Cabrera in the neck and he was stretchered off as the match was abruptly halted.

The first match has been made final by CONMEBOL, making Colo Colo the 4 – 1 winner.

CONMEBOL also banned Colo Colo from hosting its next two matches at Monumental stadium.
