Madrid squander countless opportunities, including a penalty miss by Van Nistelrooy and the miss-of-the-year by Ivan Helguera. Only an own goal on a freak play sees the Spanish side through to the knockout stages.

Lyon are perfect after four matches. A 14th minute goal from Karim Benzema holds up as the French side are through to the next round.

Marcus Allback’s 73rd minute winner will surely have United supporters fearing a repeat of last year. Fergie’s side will likely need a result from one of their two final group matches against Celtic and Benfica.

A Kaka hat-trick, the third being a cracker, sees AC Milan five points clear on 10. The Italian side are almost through as second place Lille are beaten by Athens.

Didier Drogba, Andriy Shevchenko, Make Trip to Barcelona

uefa-champions-league.jpgChelsea strikers Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko both made the trip to the Nou Camp for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.

Shevchenko missed Saturday’s match with a leg injury. Drogba came off after being kicked in the foot.
