Boca Juniors 3 – 2 Velez Sarsfield
Match Highlights:
Defender Maximiliano Pellegrino heads home beautifully from a corner as Velez take the lead in the 28th.
Seven minutes later it is 2 – 0 when 19 year-old Mauro Zarate is as unmarked in the box as one can possibly be. He heads home a free kick showing the Boca defense to be in complete disarray.
Adding to Boca woes, defender Juan Krupoviesa is shown a red in the 40th for a slight elbow and will now miss El Superclasico next week.
Fabian Cubero is shown a second yellow in the 57th making it ten a side.
Boca use the extra space well and 11 minutes later when Rodrigo Palacio picks out Fernando Gago, he fires a rocket into the top of the net and the lead is reduced to one.
Boca climb all the way back on 75 when Claudio Marcelo Morel Rodriguez plays a wonderful ball through to Palacio who fights off a mugging by Ariel Esteban Broggi and stays on his feet to drive home an absolute stunner.
The amazing comeback is complete when Gago picks out an unmarked Pablo Ledesma who taps back to Palacio who side-foots for the winner as La Bombonera absolutely erupts.
Amazingly, Velez nearly salvage a point in the 94th, but Pellegrino sees his header go agonizingly wide.
