As shrouded in mystery as the Fergie v David Beckham fallout was, the Ruud Van Nistelrooy v Fergie bust-up seems equally un-shrouded.

Fergie sits Ruud during Carling Cup in February. Ruud gets hocked off. Fergie gets hocked off more. Ruud goes to Real Madrid.

Referring to the benching, the new Real Madrid striker states, “to me this felt like a stab in the back.”

Van Nistelrooy and Becks will now be free to commiserate on what the fates have to offer those who run afoul of the English football legend.

Although a spell at the Bernabeu hardly seems like much of a punishment.

Maybe Fergie is just playing the role of loving father-figure. Teaching his lads some lessons.
